As a history professor from Manchester with a penchant for travel, especially in culturally rich regions, I recently found myself in Kolkata, ready to immerse myself in its layers of history. I wanted a comfortable base, and this hotel seemed like a fitting choice. Upon arrival, I encountered some confusion regarding my reservation, which should have been straightforward. This left us questioning the reliability of online reservations. While the room offered basic amenities-nothing particularly outstanding-clean linens and a tidy washroom were notable. The staff were predominantly helpful and bilingual, speaking Bengali and English, which eased communication in a bustling city. They even arranged dinner for us, reflecting a willingness to assist, although the check-in chaos was disheartening. Given the blend of tradition and modernity, this hotel may appeal to those willing to overlook a few bumps for the chance to explore Kolkata. Clarity in communication would greatly enhance the experience.
